Looking round the
Computer world
There
seems to be a lot of news about at the moment. BT have just announced
pilot
trials of 8Mbps Broadband, and within days Wanadoo have done the same.
Don’t
get too excited, our area won’t be getting it for a couple of years,
but it
shows the trend. It is amazing how quickly one gets used to 2Mbps and
wants
more speed. LloydsTSB announced a pilot to test having a little keybob
secure
random number generator to try and reduce e-banking fraud and keep your
money
safe, as the number of phishing e-mail scams continues to rise. The
company I
work for uses such a device for when I access their network from home
and it
works well. The Nano iPod is here and the video iPod is round the
corner. Digital
camera become better and cheaper it seems each week and the mobile phone is something many children get by the time
they are aged ten. So if you think that we have reached the end of the
advances, you better think again.
As
some completely different (yes I loved Monty Python) next month, rhere
will be a
quiz for you all with a worthwhile prize to the winner. Entry or course
will be
via e-mail, as you might expect. So when you are bored at the end of
next
month, you can get on-line and hunt the answers. Remember http://www.lordjohn.demon.co.uk/theboffin
